The infant of Juana and Kino. He gets stung by a scorpion one morning, beginning the adventure.
The Doctor
A chubby, rude, greedy man. He doesn't like treating patients, and would much rather poison them for more money. He has a dead wife, a large house, and servants. Almost everyone despises him.
The Dealers
The dealers enjoy tricking the Native Americans, so that they can please their bosses. They buy pearls for a living.
The Trackers
These men are experienced hunters. They will hunt anyone and kill for money, like they did to Coyotito.
Juan Tomás
The kind brother of Kino. He takes care of Kino on the night of Kino's escape. He also keeps the secret of the escape safe.
Apolonia
Juan's wife. She is very traditional, but will listen to her husband and Kino. She and Juana know each other well.
